Screw-in resistance thermometer with compact connection heads EM 12/18/24/38 can be attached to the measuring point easily using screw-in nozzles or a flange. Brass or stainless steel are available as the material for the head. They are often used to monitor the bearing temperature of electric motors, generators or large pumps and are therefore also available in an approved Ex version as per IECEx and ATEX (ignition protection class Ex i and Ex e). The number (12/18/24/38) corresponds to the outer diameter of the respective connection head in millimetres excluding the cable connection port on the side.
These constructions can be designed with one measuring circuit as a 2, 3 or 4 wire circuit or two measuring circuits as 2 wire circuits. The 4-pole M8 plug in the axle (for EM 12) and the M12 plug (for EM 18) as per DIN IEC 60947-5-2 are reverse polarity protected. The permissible head temperature is -25°C … +90°C; the maximum temperature at the measuring tip is +260°C. The sensor is possible from an installation length of 20 mm and a protective valve diameter of ø 4 mm to ø 8 mm.
Construction with optimised connection head, with option of clamp socket or rigid sealed feed and a 4-pole M12 round plug connector with fitting. Versions with one or two measuring circuits are possible. The operating temperature range is -70°C ... +180°C. A head measuring transmitter (4 - 20 mA) can be integrated as an option.
In the bearing thermometer EM 38 (LT 38), the external diameter of the connection head is 38 mm. This provides sufficient internal space to implement 6 or even 8 wire circuits in the double Pt100 design of the cable connection port. The screw-in thermometer EM 38 (LT 38) is available with a choice of ceramic clamp socket in the head or rigid sealed feeds.
